Farm Kids Camp - August 4th 9am-2pm

  • A Simpler Place Farm & Market 9903 Carr Road Riverview, FL, 33569 United States (map)

Farm Kids Camp will begin with a morning Yoga class; instruction provided by Holly McCormick.  We are so lucky to have Holly with us for Camp.  She is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance as well as a 95-hour certified Children's Yoga Teacher.

Yoga will be followed by a short walk to meet our hens in the hen house.  We will feed, water, and collect eggs from the chicken coop to carton back up in the farm store.  We'll gather in the farm store for a snack followed by a walk out to the garden for a chore or two; think weeding, seeding & watering.  Depending on weather we make take this activity under cover and seed and/or water cell trays or harvest and tend to our indoor growing room.

We will enjoy a picnic lunch under the old oak trees (provided by A Simpler Place).  After lunch we'll work on a fun farm centered craft which will include painting a garden pot and planting a seed to take home with instruction on a plants life cycle.

All of the activities above will include instruction and information on caring for our chickens, growing and caring for our vegetable garden, demonstrate where our food comes from and how it is grown.

The camp is limited to twelve children with three adult counselors guiding the class at all times.  We ask that all campers are either on their way into kindergarten or already in elementary school in the Fall of 2017.  For this day camp we will not be able to accept any child entering sixth grade or higher in the Fall of 2017.  Thank you!

Please bring a yoga mat.  Water will be provided throughout the day along with lunch and a snack.  We will email a form for lunch and snack requests the week prior to camp.  We apologize for any inconvenience but we are not able to accommodate any special food allergen or diet requests.  We will also email a liability waiver.  The waiver must be completed and returned prior to camp.  We are an operating farmette with live animals, uneven grounds, and lots of open air.  There will be three adults on staff at all times in attendance and dedicated to the camp.

Please Be advised That Our Food May Have Come In Contact Or Contain Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Soy, Milk, Eggs, Wheat, Shellfish Or Fish.
