Coffee Talk for Climate Change

With polar vortexes in the north, horrific fires in the west, and extreme hurricanes here at home, understanding the existential threat of climate change continues to get harder and more important. However, there are little things that each of us can do to create small changes and demand bigger ones. We should celebrate wins as they're achieved, while keeping sight of important work needed to preserve a livable planet. In this coffee talk we'll develop a conversation around ten ways each of us can help fight climate change.

As a Florida native, Ashley has a strong affinity for the outdoors and preservation. She has been a vocal environmental advocate for about 9 years. She founded Students For the Environment in 2011 at Hillsborough Community College. She earned a Bachelor Degree in Economics at the University of South Florida (USF) in 2015. In 2018, Ashley also earned a Master's in Global Sustainability. For the past four months she has worked with Our Climate, a non-profit empowering young people to advocate for science-based climate policy, as a Florida Field Organizer.

About our coffee talk series: A Simpler Place hosts a coffee talk on the second weekend of each month. The speaker is chosen because they demonstrate our values of living more sustainably and mindfully. The talk is free, and items from the cafe may be purchased and enjoyed during the talk. If you would like to be a speaker, or would like to nominate someone, contact us.
